CONGRATULATIONS: Michelle competed in the NPAA May 2015 in her first fitness competition.


After retiring from competitive horseback riding, I went into a spiral of depression. I felt extremely lost trying to find a sense of identity - my whole world was flipped upside down. I started going to the gym 3 times a week and eating bare minimal just was not cutting it. I knew I needed help, I was scared to go with a personal trainer again as I was not in the shape I use to be. Yet, I knew what I was doing was horrible to my body resulting in a fear to see a nutritionist. All I could think was what these experts are going to think...I am a wreck!

I knew what I needed was a goal; I needed someone who knew how to help me get it. I always played with the idea of going on stage, now I was going to make it happen! I researched and asked around, I found a gym that has a wonderful energy and, amazing people – I genuinely wanted to be there.

Right from the beginning Lisa was fantastic! She is very welcoming. She understands of the emotional roller-coaster of depression and the relationship between weight and body image. Every morning she would send inspirational texts. When training with her she would always push you to do your personal best and then some. After a few months we took my goal of going on stage more seriously.

Lisa helped with my diet even with all my restrictions of allergies towards most animal proteins. With help of my doctor, Lisa and I started introducing small amounts of white fish. Before we knew it, my body was changing from a vegan diet to eating fish six times a day. I started building muscle and started leaning out. Time passed by and before I knew it I was ready for Novice Bikini.

After my first NPAA completion, I was so energized by the experience, I wanted to keep going! I have planned to finish off the season. I am so grateful for being a part of Lisa's training program and would not change the experience for the world!
