CONGRATULATIONS: Bre competed in the NPAA in May 2012 and continually battles MS. Bre is a champion!

Working with Lisa was like finding my "soulmate trainer". I began the fall 2011 with a different trainer preparing for my dream of competing in the May 2012 NPAA fitness competition. Realizing that I had not found the right trainer for me initially I transitioned into Lisa's program in February 2012. It was Lisa's honesty, attention to detail and structure that initially attracted me to training with her. It was the 5:30 am encouragement texts, weekly touchbase and passion for her field that confirmed I had picked the right trainer for this journey.

I presented a special case for Lisa because I came to the table with the added complication of having Multiple Sclerosis. In situations where my body betrayed me by being tired or having symptoms, especially in the final, crucial contest prep weeks, Lisa was a rock. So much so that the week after the competition she helped me enter a team in the Calgary MS Society's Enerflex MS Walk/Run. Lisa had her own very personal MS connection and was one of my biggest cheerleaders at every turn.

Competing was a huge part if my personal journey and discovery because it was the first time since my diagnosis in March 2010 that I had actively challenged my physical boundaries to see what I was capable of. Walking across that stage in May was one of the proudest moments of my life. I didn't win awards but I knew that with Lisa's help I had poured every fiber of my being into preparing for that day. I hit the stage 30lbs lighter, empowered and knowing that I had been given the opportunity to regain some control of my life again. The process of meal planning and training has changed how I live life. Where I lacked energy before I now crave a run, gym session or stair sets. Where I had always struggled with a positive body image I now have a healthy perspective on how to craft the body I want - it all comes down to priorities!

I am continuing to learn about boundaries and balance in my own personal journey. In invigorated by my competing I over-zealously signed up for a 180kms bike tour, 1/2 marathon and sprint triathlon for the summer of 2012. My body sent me a very loud, clear signal that it needed a rest in the form of a MS relapse. It was not my most graceful transition but I spent the summer redefining my boundaries again. This time I had the confidence to know what I wanted. I knew that if I treated my body well it would be good back to me.

Life is about learning lessons and the journey that provides the process. I am so fortunate to have worked with Lisa. The tools she helped me add to my toolbox were invaluable. More than that, I was able to recommend Lisa to several friends with absolute confidence. Each one of them have seen results and learned the same tools. And did I mention that most of Lisa's coaching was via e-mail because she lived in Calgary and I was in Red Deer? Talk about a great coach!

Physical transformation is one thing but the gifts and tools Lisa gives through her training provide far more. It was an honour to train with her and I would whole-heatedly recommend her coaching style to anyone who is serious about pursuing their physical fitness journey.
